Description

The PNG Teachers Association delivered a union-wide national leadership management training, for its 22 branch affiliates, focusing on the SDG’s: 4 Quality Education; 5 Women & Youth Empowerment; and 8 Decent Work. The training was facilitated by the PNGTA Women and Youth Network over 2 days, for regional branch at respective selected venues. The program was critical that it involved a large union leadership member group and was a first ever capacity building support delivered by the Union for its branch affiliates in a long time. The purpose of the program was to develop and strengthen its operational system and functions, through appropriate union education and training, leadership skills development and empowerment to support improved union service delivery at all local branches.

Goals

The objective of the training is that all branch affiliate participants especially in leadership capacity including those representing women and youth, are made aware of effective unionism, and appropriately trained, mentored and guided to deliver quality union member services.
