His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Marhoun Al Ma’amari, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, has presided over the opening of the seventh Summer Forum for Educators in Salalah, Oman.

With a theme that explores ‘Academic acquisition, schools’ vision, teachers’ efforts and students’ ambition’, the five-day forum is being held at the College of Applied Sciences with 300 participants from Oman’s Ministry of Education, and professionals from Gulf Cooperation Council countries – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates – as well as Yemen, Lebanon and Belarus, are taking part in the forum, which includes key note speeches and practical training workshops.

The opening ceremony of the forum was attended by His Excellency Yahya Bin Saud Al Sulaimi, Minister of Education. He was joined by Her Excellency Dr Muna Bint Salim Al Jardaniyah, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Education, whose role focuses on education and curriculum. She said that educational forums were among the basic tools invested in by the Ministry to build educational cadres. She said the Ministry had historically been keen to translate the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said in relation to his attention to developing education and national intellectual capacities. The programme was also motivated by providing participants with renewable knowledge and the necessary skills to carry out their missions efficiently.

The event featured a screening of a documentary on the previous educational forum and a presentation about the programme and goals of the seventh Summer Forum.

The director of the International Education Institution and head of Education Department in Stockholm University in Sweden presented a working paper on the theme ‘Towards Quality Education for All’.

The opening ceremony included an operetta that comprised three tableau that symbolised the motto and objectives of the present and the previous education forums. It also included a poem by the Saudi poet Fahiman Bin Udah Al Jihani.

The forum will also include night lectures, recreational activities and a tour of the cultural and historic features within the Dhofar Governorate.

The forum will also review the experiences of participating countries in the field of raising the level of acquisitions and developing education systems and their inputs.
